Yarn Bomb Xmas Trees
After a number of years displaying Yarn Bombs on Whitmore and Hurtle Squares for Christmas, the idea of constructing Yarn Bomb Xmas Trees was presented to City South by Sue McKenzie from the City of Adelaide. The Committee liked the idea and constructed its first tree in 2019. The tree was displayed at the South West Community Centre for the month of December, with solar powered LED lighting highlighting it at night. The staff and patrons at the Centre all loved this quirky Christmas display! In 2020, our resident Yarn Bomber Bri-Anne Keen constructed another tree, so that we had trees on display at both the South West Community Centre in Sturt St and the Minor Works Building. After the closure of the Sturt St site, both trees were displayed at the Community Centre now located at the Minor Works Building.
For Christmas 2023, City South will again display both trees at the Minor Works Community Centre, located at 22 Stamford Court Adelaide (rear of Ergo Apartments on Sturt St). They will be on display from Nov 23 to Dec 15.
