This event has been cancelled due to the COVID lockdown imposed on Adelaide.
As a show of support to the venues and artists involved, City South will be paying all artists a 50% cancellation fee and offering a $250+GST Support Grant to the all the venues who will be impacted financially by this lockdown.
City South will not be rescheduling this event this year. We will aim to have another Zig Zag event around the same time in 2022.
Zig Zag City South is a placemaking event designed to increase visitation to our Precinct and support our local hospitality businesses. On this our 7th Zig Zag event, expect a mix of fantastic live music and DJ sets across nine venues with all the gigs open to the public and FREE ENTRY!
The event is happening on Friday July 23 from 6pm-12am, as part of the Umbrella Festival. City South will be remunerating all artist fees for this event as show of support for both the artists and the venues involved. Aidan J Jones at Cafe Troppo
A favourite of the Troppo team, Aidan will be showcasing a mix of his top notch blues’n’roots originals along with some select covers in this down-to-earth and intimate environment. You can deep dive into Aidan’s material on his Bandcamp page and follow his musical travels on his Facebook page here. Andy & Emily at Sparkke At The Whitmore
When not performing at a variety of events and venues far and wide, Andy teaches music and fronts indie-rock band The Monikers, while Emily also teaches and performs as part of electronic-pop outfit FERRNS. Together they perform wonderful renditions of classic and alternative tunes from the 80s to now, as demonstrated by the many videos on their website here. Soak up the sounds in the bar and beer garden area whilst exploring the delights on the Whitmore’s impressive menu! Free Entry. The Kings Blues Band at Kings Head Hotel
Get set for a special 4 hr set of classic blues tunes from the likes of Ray Charles, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many more in the warm and cosy Front Bar of the revitalised Kings Head Hotel. Rod’n’Ron at The Irish Club
Performing together for nigh on 15 years, Rod (Hunt) and Ron (Baker) will be performing their trademark mix of folk/rock covers and originals to the Irish Club faithful from 8-11pm. Ed Trainor at The Prince Albert Hotel
The driving force behind legendary cover band Wasabi and the talent agency of the same name, Ed Trainor is a true man-about-town. But he’s still manages to find time to don the acoustic himself and turn out some stellar covers to eager ears. Join him and the new crew at the beautifully renovated Prince Albert for a night of rootsy tunes new and old. And be sure to peruse the new menu for many a tasty feed! Free Entry. Bossi & The Boys at John Doe’s Local Bar
Expect cool swing, latin, blues, funk and soul vibes from this new jazz trio on the block, as they drop into John Doe’s from 6pm. You can check them out via their Facebook page here. DJ James Curd at The Gilbert Hotel
Hailing from Chicago and part of the famed Greenskeepers collective, James is now based in Adelaide and still making funky nu disco and house jams in the studio. When he’s not touring around the country for headline gigs, he can be found at Cry Baby late on Friday nights spinning all manner of rock classics, and earlier in the night, gracing the decks at our very own Gilbert Hotel playing eclectic grooves from the ages!
