Mayfield Development Public Consultation
To all City South members + residents & business in the City South precinct,
We invite you all to attend our upcoming Public Meeting to discuss changes being proposed to the Mayfield development in Sturt & Gilbert Streets.
PUBLIC MEETING – THURS APRIL 30 – 6.30PM to 7.30PM
SOUTH WEST COMMUNITY CENTRE – 171 STURT ST ADELAIDE
PROPOSED VARIATION TO THE MAYFIELD DEVELOPMENT AT 43 – 69 STURT STREET AND 62 – GILBERT STREET, ADELAIDE
The original New Mayfield Development was approved in 2012. The project is now underway and work on the site has commenced.
The Developers wish to revisit certain aspects of the original project and submit a Variation Development Application to the State Development Assessment Commission in accordance with the Adelaide (City) Development Plan.
The proposed changes include:
- An increase in height, from 12 to 15 storeys to Building 2 (north-western corner of Sturt Street and Norman Street). This will include a change in land use for parts of the building from residential apartments to a 4.5 star boutique hotel.
- An increase in the height from 14 to 17 storeys to Building 3 to accommodate additional apartments previously located in Building 2.
- A 1.6 metre height increase to Building 1 (corner of Gilbert Street and Norman Street). This will accommodate a screened, centralised energy plant.
The Mayfield Developers wish to engage with the local community to discuss the proposed changes and hear community views before submitting a final Variation Development Application.
The planning variation is being prepared by Rebecca Thomas from Ekistics Urban and Regional Planning and Design. Rebecca will present and discuss the proposed changes.
This is a great opportunity for you to hear about a major development taking place in our area, which will have a significant impact for residents and businesses in the district.
